Driver in crash that killed Prince George High School senior charged with manslaughter, DUI

A Dinwiddie County man has been charged with DUI and aggravated involuntary manslaughter in a Saturday crash on James River Drive in Prince George County that killed a Prince George High School senior.

Jeffrey Thomas Rose, 55, was arrested Wednesday. He had a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.20 percent, which is more than two times the legal limit to drive, Prince George police said in a news release.

The authorities said Rose was the driver of a GMC pickup truck heading west in the 15000 block of James River Drive when the driver ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and slammed into a 2003 Acura sedan heading east just after 7 p.m. The Acura's driver, Trevor Aldridge, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Aldridge's car, along with Rose, were taken to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries.
