Pine Valley at Scott Park Disc Golf Course

Tree Disc Golf

Pine Valley at Scott Park, the new Disc Golf Course, is now open in Prince George County from dawn until dusk daily.  The Disc Golf Course is located at Scott Memorial Park (6000 Scott Memorial Park, Prince George, VA  23875).  All participants will need to supply their own discs in order to play.

Disc Golf is much like Golf, except instead of balls and clubs, players use a flying disc.  Disc Golf was formalized in 1970's, and shares with golf the object of completing each hole in the fewest strokes (or in the case of disc golf, fewest throws).  Players complete a hole by throwing a disc from a tee pad, or area toward a target (known as a basket), throwing again from where the previous throw landed, until the basket is reached.  Like Golf, the number of throws a player uses to reach each basket is tallied and players seek to complete each hole in the lowest number of total throws.  There are different discs for where the players are on the course.  Distance drivers, fairway drivers, midrange, approach, putt, and specialty discs all have separate functions.  Discs are made using a variety of plastics.
