Q. How long are volunteer shifts?
A. Volunteers can spend as much, or as little, time as they would like each visit. Come walk a dog or two on your lunch break or spend all day socializing and helping staff clean. It’s up to you!

Q. How do I schedule my shifts?
A. Volunteers are asked to contact the volunteer coordinator at least 24 hours prior to their preferred time slot.

Q.  Do I need to volunteer on the same schedule each week?
A. No. Volunteers can adjust their time at the shelter around their schedule. All volunteer shifts must be approved by the volunteer coordinator prior to the shift starting.

Q.  What if I am only available on the weekends?
A. No problem! PGAS hosts 1 weekend adoption event a month and volunteers are encouraged to help out at these events.

Q. Can I bring my friend/relative with me to volunteer?
A. Unfortunately, no. Only individuals who have completed the volunteer process may come in with you during your volunteer shift.

Q. Can I volunteer if I am afraid of dogs or allergic to cats?
A. Absolutely! We never want to put a volunteer in a position where they feel uncomfortable. Volunteers can choose what areas of the shelter they would like to work in.
