Zoning Approval Forms for Business License:
Home Occupation Zoning Approval Form This form allows a business owner to request zoning approval for a home-based business location, generally as part of the process to obtain a business license.
Professional Business Zoning Approval Form This form allows a business owner to request zoning approval for a commercial business location, generally as part of the process to obtain a business license.

Subdivision, Family Division & Plat Review:
(General) Plat Review Application Form This form with checklist is required for plat reviews that propose changes to boundary lines and travelways, such as subdivisions, consolidations, boundary line adjustments, etc. County staff will review the plat to confirm it meets applicable code requirements.
Recordation (Boundary Survey) Plat Review Application Form This form with checklist is required to request a more limited plat review by the County and is intended primarily for boundary surveys that do not propose changes to boundary lines. County staff will review the plat to confirm that Subdivision Ordinance requirements do not apply.
Family Subdivision Requirements Summary sheet detailing eligibility and other requirements for Family Divisions.
Family Tract Affirmation Form This form is a required attachment for Family Division.
VDOT Subdivision Plan Submittal Checklist (2021) This form may be required by VDOT on certain subdivision reviews.

Special Exception and Rezoning Forms & Information:  (Requires meeting with staff prior to submittal, OR submit a Preliminary Application after discussion with a planner)
Meeting Request Form (Planning Department) This form is used to request a meeting with Planning Department staff to discuss your land use/development goals and any questions about requirements, processes and applications that may be involved, or to preview your application(s) prior to submittal.
Application Guide for Rezoning and Special Exception Applications This summary sheet provides information about what to submit with an application, an explanation of the process for approval of either of these types of requests, and answers to frequently asked questions.
Special Exception PRELIMINARY Application Form This form is used to request a preliminary review of your planned special exception (AKA conditional use) request. The form specifies attachments to be provided. In response to your submittal, County staff will preview your plans and provide comments intended to aid you in deciding whether or not to proceed with a formal application submittal, and what modifications are suggested to provide a complete application that is ready for review by the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.
Special Exception Final Application Form This form is used to formally request a "Special Exception" land use on a specific property. Special Exception land uses are not permitted by-right because the off-site impacts of the land use tend to vary based on the specific plans of the owner/operator. Such off-site impacts may be mitigated by conditions which may be attached to the approval of the use.
Rezoning PRELIMINARY Application Form This form is used to request a preliminary review of your planned rezoning request. The form specifies attachments to be provided. In response to your submittal, County staff will preview your plans and provide comments intended to aid you in deciding whether or not to proceed with a formal application submittal, and what modifications are suggested to provide a complete application that is ready for review by the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.
Rezoning Application Form This form is used to formally request that the Board of Supervisors consider rezoning a specific property. Rezoning results in a change to the zoning map for a specific area. Permitted uses and requirements vary by zoning district.


Site Plan Forms & Information:  (Requires discussion with Planning Department staff OR meeting with Development Review team prior to submittal)

Site Plan Review Application Form This form is used to request review of a Site Plan, be that a Major or Minor Site Plan, an Amendment of an approved plan, an Engineering Plan, or other uncommon type of technical site plan review. A separate checklists document is available for download below, to be attached to an application form.
Site Plan Submittal Checklists This document contains checklists of submittal requirements for the different types of site plans required to be reviewed by the County. This document is a required attachment for a Site Plan Review Application.
Site Plan Design Requirements Summary This document is a resource reviewing Site Plans for compliance with most of the applicable requirements relating to design standards. It is not exhaustive and additional requirements may apply. This document is not required to be submitted with a Site Plan Application; however, Site Plan review applicants are encouraged to use it as a reference before submitting a site plan.
VDOT Site Plan Checklist (2021) This form may be required by VDOT on certain site plan reviews.
