Friends of the Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR)
Formation: | FOLAR was formed in 2000 with support from the six jurisdictions along the lower Appomattox River, from the Brasfield Dam at Lake Chesdin to the confluence with the James River: the Counties of Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, and Prince George, and the Cities of Petersburg, Colonial Heights, and Hopewell. The Board of Directors is comprised of appointed and interested community members from each jurisdiction, as well as representatives from Virginia State University, National Park Service, Crater Planning District Commission, and relevant businesses/industries. |
Goal: | To conserve and protect the Appomattox River for all to enjoy. |
Meetings: | The FOLAR Board meets on the third Wednesday of even months (February, April, June, August, October, and December) at 5:00PM at the Crater Planning District Commission. The public is welcome to attend, virtually or in-person. For more information, email contactus@folar-va.org. |
