USPS Place Name Change
The United States Postal Service will allow Prince George County property owners with mailing addresses of Hopewell or Petersburg to have “alternate place” names beginning February 15, 2013. The USPS will officially allow the alternate place name of North Prince George (currently Hopewell) or South Prince George (currently Petersburg). Your zip-code would remain the same.
The County will begin mailing notifications in January 2013 to all affected property owners in Prince George County. There is no action required on your part. Either the current place name or the alternate place name may be used as of February 15, 2013. This change is in response to numerous requests from property owners wishing to have their address accurately reflect their residence in Prince George County.
A draft copy of the notification letter is attached, as well as a Frequently Asked Questions sheet. Please contact Deputy County Administrator, Jeff Stoke, at 804-722-8600 or jstoke@princegeorgeva.org, should you have additional questions.
