Mission
The Building Inspections Division is charged with the duty of issuing permits, and conducting inspections for all new construction, alterations, repairs, removal, demolition, or other building operations. The Office reviews building plans to confirm that the proposed construction will comply with the provisions of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code 2018 Edition. The Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code is a minimum standard that all local governments are required to enforce. The building code requires that the Building Inspections Division also inspects the structure at critical points during construction. For more information also see Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.
