Destination Church refurbishes Prince George Social Services’ Visitation Room
On July 15, 2021, Destination Church in conjunction with Partnership International, a mission based organization, gave the visitation room at Social Services a much-needed facelift. A team of six volunteers painted the room, including a chalkboard wall to make the room more inviting for children and families. The team also refreshed the toy and book selection in the room.
Family services staff utilize the visitation room to interview children and families, as well as provide a safe place for supervised visitation for foster children with their biological families. Because the children and families have experienced a traumatic event, it is important that the agency provides a welcoming environment to promote engagement, emotional well-being and respects families of different cultures and backgrounds. The children will be able to draw on the chalkboard, which often helps children better express what they are feeling and experiencing.
Social Services is grateful for the strong partnership with Destination Church and look forward to the continued support of the children and families we serve.
