ALONG THE RIVER WITH FOLAR | SUMMER 2021 Construction Progress at University Boulevard in Petersburg Construction is moving along swiftly at University Boulevard Trailhead. The new river overlook offers amazing views of whitewater rapids and Campbell's Bridge. The paved trail will make this section more welcoming to ALL, including families with strollers and folks using wheelchairs. This section should reopen before the end of summer, and we plan to have a grand opening later this year. Stay tuned! Climate Change Adaptation & the Appomattox River Trail FOLAR just completed a Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the trail. Heather Barrar, Regional Trails Director, says "Climate change adaption is making sure we're investing in lasting infrastructure by putting the right facility in the right place." We recently received a Chesapeake Bay License Plate Grant, which will support our educational program for kids in the Tri-Cities area this fall!
