Crater Health District Activates Joint Information Center
PETERSBURG, VA – The Crater Health District has activated a Joint Information Center (JIC) to facilitate the dissemination of information regarding the COVID-19 vaccine rollout. Representatives of each of the district’s eight localities, including the cities of Petersburg, Emporia, and Hopewell; and counties of Dinwiddie, Greensville, Prince George, Surry, and Sussex, staff the Regional JIC.
“The Crater Health District has partnered with city and county officials to establish the Crater Joint Information Center (JIC). We appreciate the hard work of this partnership to ensure our citizens are informed during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Crater Health District Director Alton Hart, Jr., MD, MPH. “The Crater JIC will provide accurate and timely communications throughout the District.”
“The Joint Information Center (JIC) shows how local city and county administration, emergency managers and the Crater Health District work together not only during a pandemic, but on a regular basis,” said William E. Johnson III, City Manager Emporia. “I look forward to our continued partnership and keeping our community well informed.”
Residents of the Crater Health District can expect to see information shared via traditional outlets to include print, television, locality websites, and social media, and are encouraged to visit the Crater Health District website at www.vdh.virginia.gov/crater/ or additional information and resources related to COVID-19.
