(Prince George, VA) – Robbery of Convenience Store

On September 28, 2020, at approximately 3:12 am, members of the Prince George County Police Department responded to a robbery at the Love’s Travel Stop located at 7200 County Drive.

Two passengers exited a burgundy minivan with the driver remaining behind the wheel.  The two individuals were described as a slim, light-skinned, black male, wearing a red shirt and black pants and a heavyset, black female, wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts.  After entering the store, the female suspect distracted the store clerk’s attention by asking for directions.  While the store clerk was writing down directions, the male suspect struck the clerk in the head with a bottle.

The male suspect subsequently pushed his fist against the back of the store clerk’s head and took money from the register.  The female subject took cigarettes and food.  As both suspects exited the store, the male suspect left the area in the awaiting vehicle, and the female suspect left the area on foot.  The vehicle was last seen heading southbound on Prince George Drive.

The female subject was apprehended a short time later.  She is identified as Esther Gordon, age 56, of Richmond, VA.   The male suspect has been identified as Van Scaturro, age 52, of Richmond.   Van Scaturro has not been located at the time of this release.  The store clerk was treated at Southside Regional Medical Center with a laceration to the head.

Police are still seeking information regarding the identity of the driver of the van and the whereabouts of Van Scaturro.  Police requests anyone with related information to call the Prince George Police Department at (804) 733-2773 or Crime Solvers at 733-2777 or you can send your tip using the new P3tips app.
