The Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA) has several manufacturing and logistics related classes that are coming up with some great features and funding support, as well as one that is new to their programming. These classes are great opportunities for job seekers to upskill for free!
- The Manufacturing Technician 1 (MT1) program has additional funding that makes the class free to students, offers 5 certifications (MS, MTS, CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 10), guaranteed interviews, career placement support, and they get paid a $400 stipend for completing the program. There are two conditions; that they are VA residents and are job seekers. I have a class starting September 14th. This one is an in-person class on JTCC Chester Campus, Mon-Thursday, from 5:30pm-8:30pm (schedule/flier attached). My following MT1 class is November 16th, in-person (Chester JTCC), Mon-Friday, 8:00am-3:00pm.
- The Certified Logistics Technician (CLA/CLT) program starting September 15th will have the same format as the MT1 program, and will also have the same funding support, so it will be free to job seeking students and include the $400 stipend, but will also include forklift as well. This program will run Tues, Wed, and Thursdays, from 9am-4pm on the JTCC Chester campus.
- Lean Practitioner Class: A new class just added to the programming. This class goes over how to apply Lean principles, methods, and tools regarding process improvement. It has funding to cover at least 2/3 of the cost (students may qualify for more depending on qualifications). This online class has two upcoming schedules. One starts September 8th, from 1:00pm-4:00pm, Mon-Friday. The second class starts September 14th, from 9:00am-12:00pm, Mon-Thursday. It’s only 8 classes!
**Please note that in-person classes may be switched to online or hybrid if regulations change due to the pandemic.
