CHESTERFIELD — A Prince George County man has been arrested in connection with a shooting early Saturday in the northern end of the county.

Timothy A. Drewry, 29, of the 10700 block of James River Drive, is charged with reckless handling of a firearm.

A police spokeswoman said the shooting stemmed from an argument inside an apartment in the 4100 block of Lamplighter Court. Drewry and another man, identified as Dean A. Rumph, 27, reportedly began arguing, and Rumph was asked to leave. According to the spokeswoman, Rumph returned a short time later and allegedly struck Drewry in the head with a handgun. Drewry then reportedly shot Rumph in the hand with the handgun.

At some point during the argument, police claim Rumph fired a shot from his gun into the air.

Rumph, of the 2800 block of Magnus Lane in Richmond, has been charged with malicious wounding, breaking and entering, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and discharging a firearm in a public place.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
