COVID-19 - The World Health Organization designated this last Tuesday (3/10/2020)“COVID stands for Corona Virus Disease 2019”

Prince George County Administration continues to monitor closely the COVID-19 situation. Currently there are no known cases in Prince George. We are taking proactive steps. First and foremost, we want to maintain a safe workplace and protect the health of employees, customers, visitors and others. We also want to ensure the continuity of business operations. The following provides some information on steps we are taking and the status of County operations.

County Government will remain closed to the public on Tuesday. All employees will report at normal time, but each department will assess staffing needs beginning Wednesday with the plan being alternative/limited staffing to be utilized for the next couple weeks. It is anticipated offices will open on Wednesday to the public encouraging limited face to face contact using phone calls or email when possible. Also all County meetings are canceled for the remainder of the month, which includes the Planning Commission and the March 24 BOS meeting as well

• From the Governor's press conference it states that he is banning all gatherings of 10 people or more. The ban does not apply to restaurants, bars, and offices
• At this time there are there has been one life lost to CoVID-19 in Virginia.
• Please see the attached IMT Situation Report for 3/16/2020. This incident is ever changing and the situation report will be adjusted to reflect the needs of the incident.

Steps to reduce illness
We ask all employees and the public to cooperate in taking steps to reduce the transmission of communicable diseases in the workplace, including the following:
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds.
• Use hand sanitizers that are found throughout the workplace and in common areas.
• Cover your mouth with tissues whenever you sneeze, and discard used tissues in the trash; or
• Cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
• Avoid people who are sick with respiratory symptoms.
• Clean frequently touched surfaces.
• Practice Social Distancing, which the CDC defines social distancing as "remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet) from others when possible."
• Don’t forget to sanitize your Auto
• Practice curbside pick-up where available
