Robert Wilson Named asNew Executive Director
For ARWA and SCWWA

The Boards of the Appomattox River Water Authority (ARWA) and the South Central Wastewater Authority (SCWWA) appointed Robert B. Wilson, P.E. as the incoming Executive Director for the Authorities at their November 14, 2019 meetings.  The Authorities current Executive Director, Dr. Robert Wichser, will be retiring on December 31, 2019.

Mr. Wilson comes to the Authorities from the Dinwiddie County Water Authority where he has served as Executive Director since 2003.  From 1986 to 2003, Mr. Wilson served in a number of different positions with the Chesterfield County Utilities Department, including nine years as Engineering Supervisor.  Robert earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech, and he is a registered Professional Engineer.  He has also served as a primary or alternate member of the ARWA and SCWWA Boards since 2003.

“The ARWA and SCWWA Boards are appreciative of Dr. Wichser’ s dedicated service as Executive Director, and we were fortunate to have the opportunity to consider multiple qualified applicants for the Executive Director position,” said Colonial Heights City Manager and ARWA and SCWWA Board Chairman Douglas Smith. “Mr. Wilson brings extensive knowledge of utilities management to the position including executive director experience in his current position.  We look forward to working with him as he manages the critically important water and wastewater services provided to our region by ARWA and SCWWA.”

Kevin Massengill. “During his tenure with the Dinwiddie County Water Authority, Mr. Wilson directed the organization through numerous critical infrastructure projects; he has implemented state-of-the-art technological advancements, and streamlined operations. I am confident he will continue to be a regional leader as the next Executive Director of the Authorities”

Robert Wilson will begin his tenure as Executive Director of the Authorities on January 1, 2020.
