Tim Lowery to coach Chili Peppers

COLONIAL HEIGHTS - The Tri-City Chili Peppers, the new Colonial Heights-based Coastal Plain League baseball team, has announced Tim Lowery as head coach. Lowery was head coach for Clover Hill High School from 1987 to 2006, leading the Cavaliers to a state title in 1994. The ’94 Cavaliers were ranked 10th in the country by USA Today. In 2007, he assumed the same role with Cosby High School where he took the Titans to 10 straight regional tournament appearances. He retired in 2017.

Lowery began coaching with Canes Baseball, a national travel baseball organization, in 2008. He won nine Perfect Game national titles and four Wilson Premier national titles.

In his thirty year coaching career, Lowery racked up 470 wins. He’s coached hundreds of players who went on to be drafted into the MLB including 23 first round picks. The highest pick: MacKenzie Gore, selected 3rd overall in the 2017 MLB draft by the San Diego Padres.

The organization has scheduled an introductory press conference for Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m.
