(Prince George, VA) – Crash involving Prince George County School Buses

On March 18, 2019, at 2:41 pm, members of the Prince George County Police Department responded to a four-vehicle crash involving two school buses.  The crash occurred in the 11000-block of Prince George Drive (Route 156).

The investigation revealed that a 2009 Honda Accord was traveling south on Prince George Drive.  The Honda was stopped in the roadway waiting to turn into a driveway and a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer was stopped behind the Honda. A Prince George County school bus traveling behind the Chevrolet was unable to stop and struck the Chevrolet.  The impact caused the Trailblazer to be pushed into the Accord.  That force drove the Honda into the northbound traffic lane.  A second Prince George County school bus traveling northbound on Prince George Drive, while attempting to avoid a collision with the Honda, ran off the roadway into the ditch.

There were approximately 25 students traveling on each school bus; no injuries were reported on-scene.  Students were 6th through 12th graders from the Middle School, Jr. High School, and High School.   The Honda and Chevrolet sustained major damage and both school buses sustained minor damage.  The driver of the school bus that collided with the Chevrolet was issued a traffic summons for following too close.
