Proration Information
Effective January 1, 2013, the Prince George County Code was changed by the Board of Supervisors to permit proration of personal property tax on motor vehicles, trailers and semitrailers. Under the new procedures, motor vehicles and trailers will be taxed for the portion of the year that the personal property is legally located in Prince George County. The legal location, or "situs," of a motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer, is defined as the place where the property is normally kept or garaged.
